The WP phpBB Bridge is the evolution of «WordPress to phpBB3 Bridge». The first version of the plugin was designed to synchronize users of phpBB to WordPress, so when a user log-in to phpBB would be simultaneously connected to WordPress also.
The new version by e-xtnd.it added new features and improvements to exploit many of the features of WordPress previously were not available. Also has been added one new Widget to give more options for your blog.
After activating the Plugin, the user is redirected to connect and disconnect at phpBB. Also keeps the record within the phpBB3 and not WordPress. Installation
Once you have your WordPress and phpbb forum set up, download and install the WP phpBB Bridge plugin and activate it. (Make sure you use the same credentials for both WordPress and Phpbb Admin user: Name/email/pass)
Note: There is a difference between activating the plugin and activating the bridge. You must activate the plugin first in order to see the WP phpbb widgets, but DO NOT activate the bridge just yet.
Go to menu Appearance/widgets. (You will find 4 new widgets)
Drag & drop the widget called “phpbb3 Users Widget” to the widget area of your template to activate it.
If you want you can activate all widgets but make sure that you fill the form “forums” with the id’s of phpbb forums you like, to get topics from in widget “Phpbb3 posts widget“
Go in menu: «WP phpBB Bridge» and complete the paths for config.php and ucp.php.
Typically it should be similar to this depending on your file structure:
Path to config.php: /home/content/html/wordpress folder/forum folder/config.php URL to ucp.php: http://YOUR-WEBSITE.com/forum/ucp.php
Now activate bridge.
That’s it !! You’re good to go…

To anyone having the problem of being logged out of the wp-admin CP and not being able to get back in due to being redirected to the forum login every time you try:
I've had this very same problem. I found a solution more or less by accident.
Go to your phpBB3 admin CP and click the "Cookies" link under "Server administration". There, make sure the cookie domain is set to the domain you use as your primary URL (for example, if you use http://www.mysite.com as your home adress, and it redirects to your wordpress blog, you enter .mysite.com as your cookie domain). It should be noted that I set up the forum as a subfolder of my wordpress folder, and that both are using the same database. I'm not sure how this will work with other setups, but for me, it worked like a charm as soon as I changed the cookie domain.
Is there any ability to set "display_name" to be the same as "nickname" while now it is default the same as "user_login"?
If it is not possible, I think about removing "$new_username = strtolower($new_username);" from php file, but I think that the first option is better.
Help, please.
i have a problem i've installed the wp phpbb bridge and when i activate it it's taking me out of the admin area and i can't get in (to the wp-admin) any ideas ?
got the same problem. just installed this to try it out and just get kicked away. I cna access the admin panel with the domain.xx/wp-admin?sidXXXX think but can't do anything in there as I get kicked out. seems it does not tell wordpress I am logged in.
seems like it's not working properly with WP 3.4.1 … might be working better if you go back a version or so. I will try that myself later tonight if i get the time.
I have a problem. My phpbb forum has as its two founding administrators.
The installation of the blog as I have done one of two administrators: the same authentication data of the forum.
I installed the plugin phpBB Bridge and everything worked properly.
I logged out.
Soon after I authenticated with data from the second administrator of the forum and here is the anomaly. The authentication is successful, but the user data of the first administrator of the blog is overwritten with the newly logged. Actually not all, the username remains the same as before, whereas the display name and email address are overwritten.
All this does not happen if I truly user data with a simple user, you create a new user type correctly subscriber.
How can I fix? I found a bug?
Thank you!
The plugin seems to assume that the user that set up the phpBB install is also the person setting up the WordPress installation. If the user's ID in the phpBB database is 2, this plugin defaults the WordPress user ID to 1.
So, if my guess is correct, the second administrator's phpBB user ID is 2, and it's overriding your WP user which has the WP user ID 1.
How to fix it:
Go into your database (phpMyAdmin worked well for me) and find the phpBB user IDs for the two of you. They're in phpbb_users. Next, go to wp_usermeta and see if there's any meta_key fields for phpbb_userid. If so, alter them so they match the user IDs you got from phpbb_users. If not, add them. You only need to do this for your second administrator and your first WP user as the plugin should do the rest on its own.
Hi, Great plugin, works like a charm and exactly as I had hoped. I was wondering how I could create login or registration links that redirect back to my main page, similar of that to the sidebar app however because my home page does not have a sidebar I wish to use a link that will return the user to the main page via a redirect automatically.
I had this plugin running on my WordPress/PhpBB website successfully for a few months then all of a sudden It keeps deactivating itself. If I go back into the dashboard and reactivate it, with no errors reported, it works fine for a few logins then the same thing happens again……..
Any help with this is appreciated……
(as a side note, this plugin is no longer being listed on the wordpress site when searching…….it is still a good project or now stopped?)
Just donated from here on the site through payPal and received the download link. Download and installed perfectly. Activated everything per the instructions and everything is working fine withthe ex eption of my WP site suddenly running *extremely* slower than it had pre-install of the plugin. This is the same issue reported by many others here. It is quite a noticable difference in performance. This sucks because I think the Plugin is fantastic, but cannot run a web site with this type of performance. Is there a fix for this issue? It is taking 30-45 seconds to load the main WP page which is completely and utterly unacceptable.
Another question: I dontated through this web site BEFORE installing the plugin, how do I get the serial code to remove the copyright? It is actually displayed twice on my menu widget (User).
Finally, posting new posts does not post in the related forum which has been setup in the PLugin settings. No errors, just no posts appearing.
I have followed the directions to the letter multiple times and yet I am still running into the issue where it keeps going back to the phpBB login when I try to go to the WP-admin tool. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
When I create Menu's (Appearance —> Menu) I get the following errors:
Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home/badr/firstborn.us/wp-content/plugins/wp-phpbb-bridge/inc/wpbb_functions.php on line 534

Previously, I used WP phpBB Bridge 1.0.4, everything works fine. Installed on a local server the new version 2.0.6 plug-in and after the activation of the site falls with error 504. That's the last line of the error.log
127.0.0.1 – [20/Apr/2012: 01:14:44 +0400] "GET / forum / ucp.php HTTP/1.0" 504 183 "-" "-" "-"
I have just found this plugin and got it installed and running….. Looks good so far. Only have 1 issue. When a new member registers on the phpbb forum, the member is NOT being copied across to the WordPress Users list……… Any help appreciated….
I have been using the latest "WP phpBB Bridge" plug-in for a while now and it is a great plug-in but lately it has been slowing down my site by a lot. I've donated to you guys and now would like some assistance.
It takes 20-29 seconds to load the website due to "WP phpBB Bridge" plug-in. It just started doing this for no reason and can't figure out why. Please help a donator, thanks.
Yes I still have this problem but it comes and goes. All of the other site members on my website is having slow load times. The forums will load fast but the wordpress website takes significant time to load and I don't know why.
Is it possible to add a link below an article when crossposting to a forum. I want my forum users to be notified if there is a new blog post by using phpbb's new topics-search-feature and.
I created a WordPress blog with a PhpBB forum. To link the two, in terms of user connections, I use the plugin WP Phpbb Bridge.
Since some time, I use the "Assign forums" which is great. But it makes me the entire article in the forum, making a duplicate with WordPress.
In fact, I wish that when I create a new section in WordPress and I publish it, this one appears in new posts in the category pre-selected with the title of the article and the article link to WP (and not not see any view the article in the forum).
Could you help me know what (s) code (s) I need to change to do this?
Any update on when the bugs will be addressed? This plugin has great potential but its issues need to be fixed. Especially considering that many of us have donated for it. Read some of the threads @ http://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-wp-phpb…
I responded the the link in my previous post, that you had replied to. The issue of being abel to access the WP Admin with the plugin is still the bigger issue. The site is http://chowchow.org/, however I don't have the plugin activated because I can't access the WP admin with it activated.
I want to use the plugin so that my phpBB users can begin to use the BuddyPress community/social features on my site, however I can not enable those features until the plugin is updated to allow full access to the WP Admin when activated.
Any idea on when it will be updated and available again?
Great plugin, I too have experienced issues with the slow loading of my site since installing this plugin. A way I have come to combat this issue is with another plugin "Quick Cache". Basically caches your website for super fast loads. http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/quick-cache/
I get the error info, my wordpress show me a 500 error
PHP Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class cache in /public_html/bannedbook/includes/cache.php on line 452

Hello everybody!
Well, I'm French but I have a walkthrough to go to wp-admin. This method is an annoying after a while but hey have to make:
1) Log normal with the plugin.
2) In the address bar, you have this http://www.monsite.com/?sid=xxxxxxxxx.
3) Between / and? put this: wp-admin. Which gives: http://www.monsite.com/wp-admin/?sid=xxxxxxxxx.
That's it.
I also offer my translation for the French, hoping it will be included in a future release.

To e-xtnd.it team –
in wp_phpbb_bridge.php file, find:
$new_username = ereg_replace("[^A-Za-z0-9]", "", $user->data['username']);
$new_username = strtolower($new_username);
and replace with:
$new_username = sanitize_title($user->data['username']);
Moreover, in /wp-includes/user.php file, find:
if ( empty($display_name) )
$display_name = $user_login;
and replace with:
if ( empty($display_name) )
$display_name = $nickname;
Viola! 😉

Lemme know how it goes!

Hello,
I have been using the latest "WP phpBB Bridge" plug-in for a while now and it is a great plug-in but lately it has been slowing down my site by a lot. I've donated to you guys and now would like some assistance.
Website : http://abcgamingclan.com/
It takes 20-29 seconds to load the website due to "WP phpBB Bridge" plug-in. It just started doing this for no reason and can't figure out why. Please help a donator, thanks.

Hello,
I created a WordPress blog with a PhpBB forum.
Thank you in advance.

The WP site lives on http://chowchow.org/ the phpBB Forum lives on the subdomain of http://forum.chowchow.org/
I want to use the plugin so that my phpBB users can begin to use the BuddyPress community/social features on my site, however I can not enable those features until the plugin is updated to allow full access to the WP Admin when activated.
Any idea on when it will be updated and available again?

This is already done. As a plug-in knows which translation file to use?

Great plugin, I too have experienced issues with the slow loading of my site since installing this plugin. A way I have come to combat this issue is with another plugin "Quick Cache". Basically caches your website for super fast loads. http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/quick-cache/
